DANCE RICARDO BARROS

Brazilian dancer and harpsichord player Ricardo Barros completed his BMus in Brazil and then undertook postgraduate courses at the Guildhall of Music and Royal Academy funded by a scholarship from the Brazilian government. It was here that he met Madelaine Ingleherne and discovered his talent and passion for Baroque and Early Dance. He has recently completed a Phd on  rhetorical expression of the Passions in Baroque Dance at Hull University. He is the founder and director of the innovative Mercurius Company, specialising in the reconstruction of baroque theatrical dances. They are artists in residence at the Wallace Collection and Handel House Museum, London. He also performs with Trio Spirituoso as a harpsichord player. He is in great demand both nationally and internationally as a choreographer and director of Baroque Opera. This has taken him to Latvia, Germany, Switzerland, Holland and Sweden. He has also toured with Daughters of Elvin extensively over the last two years. Recently he has been running Baroque dance workshops in South Zeal where he has been inspiring everybody with his graceful, stylish dancing and his enthusiasm and deep knowledge of his subject.
